    A backlog of murder and manslaughter cases appear to be dominating our court system


    Chief Justice Dame Helen Winkelmann's latest annual report flags rising workloads and mounting stress across the judiciary.

    She also points to limits caused by a cap on judicial appointments and the growing length of High Court trials.

    Retired High Court Judge Simon Moore, KC, says murder and manslaughter cases are making up almost a quarter all High Court cases.

    He says this concerning as it doesn't leave much room for other cases
