Cross-party support for law to ensure young people's safety

Parliament's passed the third reading of a Bill, formally responding to recommendations from the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care.

It expands restrictions on people with certain convictions working with children, and improves public agency record-keeping.

Minister for Children Karen Chhour says people who've fought for years are being heard.

She says these are meaningful changes that will make a real difference in young people's lives.
