A call for a calm, clinically led approach to ADHD

A call for a calm, clinically led approach to ADHD

The College of Psychiatrists has released a statement on its position on treatment for the condition, which affects hundreds of thousands of Kiwis.

It recommends more investment in specialist psychiatry access, more discussion of non-pharmacological medication options, and a national data system.

It says stimulant medicines should only be prescribed after a full assessment, and any reforms to treatment can't prioritise speed over safety.
