The Government's making moves to acquire properties for North Canterbury's Woodend Bypass

The Government's making moves to acquire properties for North Canterbury's Woodend Bypass

A Notice of Intention to Take Land has been issued for properties around Woodend Beach Road, needed to extend the Christchurch Northern Corridor from Belfast to Pegasus.

The project's a Road of National Significance, aimed at making State Highway 1 safer and more reliable - and to support economic growth and connectivity.

The notice says other routes were considered and landowners have been in negotiations since July last year.

Public submissions remain open on the proposed land acquisition.
