Aaron Gate has surprised himself at the track cycling world championships in France

Aaron Gate has surprised himself at the track cycling world championships in France

The 30-year-old has claimed silver in the men's omnium - just 11 weeks after fracturing his collarbone in the ride-off for team pursuit bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.

He finished behind Great Britain's Ethan Hayter who dominated the multiple race event.

Gate says he only had a couple of days on the track before the competition started, so he didn't know how he was going to go.

Gate returns to the track overnight, teaming up with Corbin Strong in the madison.
