He'd been walking his dog near Palmerston North's Ahimate Reserve about 1.30 Saturday afternoon when he fell in.

The Police National Dive Squad have been on scene, assessing conditions and making preliminary enquiries.

Searching continued until dark last night, and is resuming this morning.
