A coroner is highlighting the dangers of mixing alcohol and rivers

They've found 18-year-old Jordan Adams drowned at Taranaki's Waiwhakaiho River in November 2021.

He jumped into the high-flowing river, after socialising and drinking with work colleagues.

The coroner's report notes dangerous river conditions and intoxication contributed to his death

It details the alcohol affected Adams' decision making - and adversely affected his ability to cope underwater.
