The Black Knights opened their fresh A-League football rivalry with the Phoenix by triumphing 2-nil - with fans of both teams packing out the stadium in the capital.

A record crowd is expected at Mount Smart Stadium, and Auckland defender Tommy Smith - whose played in big rivalry games in England - says these fixtures are always special.
