Nicole Kidman planned to give up acting completely after giving birth to her daughter Sunday

The 'Moulin Rouge!' star has two adopted children - Isabella and Connor - from her marriage to Tom Cruise and she became a mom again when she welcomed daughter Sunday with her husband Keith Urban in 2008 and Nicole has admitted she wanted to walk away from Hollywood for good to focus on her family

In an interview with CBS News, she explained: "When I gave birth to [Sunday], I was like: 'Well, I think I'm pretty much done now'."

However, Nicole revealed her late mom Janelle convinced her not to give her career completely.

The actress went on: "We were living on a farm, and that's when my mother said: 'I wouldn't give up completely. Keep a finger sort of in it.'

"And I'm like: 'No, no. I'm done now. I'm done.' She's going: 'Just listen to me. Keep moving forward. Not saying that you have to do it to the level you've been doing it, but I wouldn't give it up completely'.

"That came from a woman who was from a generation that didn't have the opportunities that I had, that she had helped create for her daughters.

"So that's probably something that she wished she'd had when she was little."

Nicole went on to become a mother again when the couple welcomed another daughter Faith via surrogate in 2010 and the actress' career went from strength-to-strength - winning Oscar nominations for her films 'Rabbit Hole', 'Lion' and 'Being the Ricardos'.

The actress is currently the focus of more Oscar buzz after landing a Golden Globe nomination for her role in new movie 'Babygirl' - in which she plays CEO Romy, who puts her career and family at risk when she embarks on an affair with an intern.

Nicole recently admitted she's happy to have got the nod because it helps raise awareness of the film to audiences around the world.

She told 'Access Hollywood': "I'm just really grateful that we're included as a film because we get to go and it brings enormous amount of attention.

"It's global the way in which people respond to the Golden Globes. I got texts from all over the world going congratulations so that shows the power of it."
