Live updates: Donald Trump takes oath of office as he is sworn in as the 47th president of the US

After a norm-shattering election campaign, Donald Trump's inauguration is representing another departure from tradition. Follow live.

After a norm-shattering election campaign, Donald Trump's inauguration represented another departure from tradition.

The swearing-in ceremony took place in the rotunda of the US Capitol. Dangerously cold conditions meant the inauguration took place indoors.

The new president is expected to sign a pile of executive orders on his first day, on policies ranging from immigration to TikTok. He's said he may also pardon people involved in the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the US Capitol.

Follow the day's events in our live blog.
