Long-serving MP David Parker's using his final speech in Parliament to advocate for tax reform

Long-serving MP David Parker's using his final speech in Parliament to advocate for tax reform

The Labour politician, first elected in 2002, delivered his valedictory last night -- officially ending his time in politics.

Parker called New Zealand a "tax haven for billionaires".

He told the House it's been difficult to convince National, and even his own side, on tax.

He notably stepped down as Revenue Minister after Labour's Chris Hipkins ruled out a wealth or capital gains tax in 2023.
