Police say significant progress has been made in the shooting investigation of a man in Hutt Valley, at the start of the month

Police say significant progress has been made in the shooting investigation of a man in Hutt Valley, at the start of the month

A 40-year-old man remains in critical condition after being shot, outside his Stokes Valley home on August 3.

Police believe two men arrived at the address in a Toyota station wagon, where a male passenger got out and shot the victim.

It's alleged the victim was then run over by the car, as it fled the scene.

A 25-year-old man has been taken into custody, and a forensic examination of the car is underway.

Detective Inspector Haley Ryan says police are gaining ground on identifying the second person involved.
