The Government is looking at making Warrants of Fitness inspections less frequent

The Government is looking at making Warrants of Fitness inspections less frequent

Under the proposals, the first WoF for new vehicles would be issued for four years, vehicles four to 10 years old would need one every two years.

The one-year rule would continue for vehicles older than 10 years.

Motor Trade Association Chief Executive Lee Marshall says he agrees it's time the WoF is reviewed to make sure it's fit for purpose, but questions the four year timeframe.

He says there will be plenty of fleet cars that do 200 kilometres in four years, so it would be a long time without a test.
