    A Dunedin rugby player who shared a sex tape in a group chat of more than 30 people has been denied a discharge without conviction


    Thomas Ryan appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday, after pleading guilty to charges of making and posting an intimate visual recording.

    The ODT reports the victim told the court Ryan was cruel to let others join in on the violation of her privacy and dignity.

    The judge says the offending was appalling and says it reflects a "culture of entitlement".

    The 24-year-old was sentenced to nine months' supervision and ordered to pay the victim three thousand dollars.
