Telecommunication companies are urging people to be patient with mobile usage this summer

Vodafone is spending more than two million dollars upgrading cell sites around the country's most popular holiday hotspots and festivals - including Gisborne's Rhythm and Vines, Northern Bass (base), and Bay Dreams Nelson.

Vodafone's Sharinah Nisha , says in most cases you should be able to use your phone as normal.

She says you should be able to use as much data as you want but when the network gets congested texting is the best option as it has the lowest load on the network.
