Police are appealing for photos and videos from the Coromandel's Whangamata on New Year's Eve

About 22 arrests have been made after drunken teenagers rioted through the streets.

Police resorted to shields and batons to break up the swarm, with teens scaling a local cafe roof and hurling down bottles.

They are keen to hear from anyone with footage showing participants.
