Escaped British Household Cavalry horses bolt through central London for second time this year

One of the three horses sustained minor injuries in the incident, which was captured in part by a London cab driver.

Runaway army horses have bolted through central London for the second time this year, after one was spooked by a bus and two threw off the soldiers riding them.

The British Army said one horse had minor injuries but did not require further treatment after the incident on Monday morning local time.

Neither soldier involved in the incident was injured.

One of the horses collided with a black taxi in Pimlico, central London, with the moment captured on the vehicle's dash cam.

Monday's incident unfolded as five soldiers from the Household Cavalry mounted regiment conducted a routine exercise with six horses.

An army spokesperson said one horse was being led and got spooked by a London bus.

The other two horses then threw off their riders and galloped away.

Two horses were caught 2.5km away from where the exercise was taking place, while the other was recaptured a short distance away.

The taxi driver who was caught up in the incident posted a photo of the damage left by one horse on X.

None of the horses involved in Monday's incident were involved in the April escape.

That incident saw four people hospitalised and horses left with graphic injuries after hitting cars and buses.

A number of prestigious army regiments have stables in the British capital and horses are a regular sight around government buildings on Whitehall, Buckingham Palace, The Mall and in nearby Hyde Park.
