New research reveals the danger of trans-fats in food

New research reveals the danger of trans-fats in food

They're commonly found in biscuits, cakes and commercially produced products.

The World Health Organisation recommends they should be removed from food supplies - with 645,000 people dying worldwide each year, from dietary effects.

Auckland University population health senior research fellow, Kathryn Bradbury, says work's being done on removing them from food.

She says The Ministry for Primary Industries is trying to determine different options to get rid of them from our food supply.
