All Whites coach Darren Bazeley has explained the reason behind skipper Chris Wood coming off the bench during his side's 4-nil win over Malaysia in a football friendly at Albany

The forward came on in the 62nd minute and scored a header 10 minutes later to put New Zealand up 3-nil.

Bazeley wanted to keep the striker fit before he returns to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
