Kate Flannery has defended "hot" John Krasinski after his People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2024 win divided opinion

The 60-year-old actress - who appeared opposite the star in 'The Office' - insisted such a title is "long overdue" for the 45-year-old actor, because her eyes "melt" every time she rubs shoulders with him

She told TMZ: "Let me tell you something, this is so long overdue.

"John Krasinski's gotten robbed every year since 2005 in my opinion. It's so time.

"Have you seen him lately? He is so hot, my eyes are melting every time I see him in person.

"He is really, really hot. I'm so glad people are finally paying attention.

"I'm not drunk, I'm telling you for real, John has always been adorable and really cute, but I feel like people haven't seen his sexiness because he's so cute.

"It's the perfect marriage of two things.

"Cut and hot and sexy and funny and smart."

Kate also admitted she has to "squint" whenever she is with John and his wife, 'Oppenheimer' actress Emily Blunt - who he married in 2010 - because they are so attractive.

She added: "He and Emily are so good looking, I have to squint."

Upon being told he was receiving the outlet's annual accolade, John experienced a "blackout" of emotions.

Asked his reaction, he told People: "Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts. Other than maybe I'm being punked.

"That's not how I wake up, thinking, 'Is this the day that I'll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?' And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me."

However, there has been a mixed reaction on social media.

One X user wrote: "John Krasinski being sexiest man alive does feel odd ... did they promise it to him a few years ago and postponed it? (sic)"

Another posted: "John Krasinski named People's 'sexiest man alive' for 2024 ? ... are you kidding me? according to whom? (sic)"

One wrote: "I can think of 10 people who are undeniably sexier than him. Don't get me wrong, he's not ugly or anything, he's just not who I think of when I think sexiest man alive. (sic)"

However, others, like Kate, agreed with the choice.

One social media user posted: "Congrats to a worthy choice (finally!) John is People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive." No complaints."
