A toddler's death has sparked concerns about the popularity of temporary swimming pools

A toddler's death has sparked concerns about the popularity of temporary swimming pools

Open Justice reports 20-month-old Aromaia Morehu Leoni Duff died in Napier in 2023, after being found face down in a pool set up in a relative's backyard.

It's the fifth death involving a temporary pool since 2014.

In her findings released today, Coroner Heidi Wrigley says it reaffirms concerns of an emerging pattern of drownings involving the pools.

She recommends never using unfenced pools when young children are around.
