    A Coroner's advising targeting messaging on the dangers of rock fishing - to the Filipino community


    Erin Woolley is also recommending banning access to Waikato's Papanui Point.

    Two fishers disappeared at the notoriously deadly spot in October 2021.

    The body of 52-year-old Olson Canatoy was discovered the next month - but 44-year-old Eric Dabalos was never found.

    Woolley is advising a targeted education campaign - and mandating lifejacket legislation.

    The District Council says it isn't the only landowner - so closing off the drowning black spot isn't simple.
