Will Arnett thinks he will lose a Golden Globe to his ex-wife Amy Poehler

The former couple - who were married from 2003 until 2016 - are in the running to bag the first gong in the inaugural Best Podcast category at the ceremony on Sunday (11.01.26), with their programmes SmartLess and Good Hang, respectively, up for nomination.

Asked if Will, 55, has an acceptance speech ready if his podcast, SmartLess, wins, he joked to People that he would "leave the speech writing" to his co-presenter, 55-year-old actor Sean Hayes.

Will - who also hosts SmartLess with 56-year-old actor Jason Bateman - quipped: "[Sean has] actually written all the speeches for all the nominees for every category. He's written Amy's acceptance speech already."

In December 2025, Will - who has been hosting SmartLess since July 2020 - revealed the text Amy, 54, sent him after they were both nominated in the Best Podcast category.

He read the text from the Inside Out star - who launched Good Hang in March 2025 - that he received whilst he discussed his new movie, Is This Thing On? with The Hollywood Reporter.

Amy - who met Will in the 1990s, when he watched her perform in an improv group in New York - wrote in the message: "Congrats. Let's party."

Laughing as he read the text, Amy added, per Will: "I don't have Bateman's number, but that's for the best."

The duo - who were re-introduced by mutual pals in 2000 before sparks flew - are battling for the Golden Globe against Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, The Mel Robbins Podcast and Up First.

Will married Amy in 2003, and went on to have sons Archie, 17, in 2008 and Abel, 15, in 2010.

The couple broke up after nine years of marriage in 2012, with their divorce finalised in 2016.

In April 2025, Amy - who remains close with Will - appeared on SmartLess, and he praised the Saturday Night Live alum for being a great mom.

Will - who has been dating 1990s supermodel Carolyn Murphy, 51, since September 2025 after they were "set up" by a mutual friend - said: "I have to try really hard, but Amy, you're really good at this, and you help me do this in concert with you, to remember to listen to what they're saying and to not try to impose what I think, 'You need this, you need that.'

"To actually sit and listen to what your kid is trying to say. Encourage them to, as much as they can, to speak. I don't come by it naturally because that's not how I was raised."

And the Lego Batman actor is "really proud" of their co-parenting relationship.

He added: "Of course, things take a minute because everybody is sort of adjusting to what it is.

"I'm also very proud of, certainly as parents, what we've been able to do. That has been really important to both of us. I'm really, really lucky to have her as a partner in this way.

"There aren't many people I speak to more than I speak to her, which is weird, you know what I mean. But it's great. I feel really lucky.

"She's the person that I go like, 'Hey, I'm thinking about doing this.' Whether it's life or work and I really seek her counsel because it's important to me, because I trust her.

    "She's awesome."
