Evangeline Lilly has "spent a lot of money" on trying to find the right treatment for a brain injury she sustained in a fall

The Lost actress, 46, revealed in May she had sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) after fainting and falling "face-first into a boulder" and she recently underwent tests to examine how she has been impacted - now Evangeline has admitted she's wracked up huge bills trying to get medical advice on the best possible treatment.

In a post on Instagram, she wrote: "I have spent a lot of money getting evaluated and getting targeted, expert advice on how to heal my brain.

"Not everyone can afford to do this. This advice was for me specifically and may not be the exact right path for everyone.

"I am not a doctor nor an authority on any of this. But in the absence of affordable medical care in this country, I am sharing some of the advice give to me.

"For each of the supplements I'm taking, I take ONE capsule a day."

In the video she shared alongside the caption, she added: "OK, I am getting experts to tell me how to remedy the deficiencies in my brain at the moment.

"I consider myself one of the extraordinarily fortunate people in this country who can take care of my body the way that it needs to be taken care of without money getting in the way of that.

"And so I want to share what I am learning from them in case any of you out there are also experiencing repercussions from a TBI, a concussion, and want to attend to your brain but don't know how to."

Evangeline went on to explain the supplements she's taking which include N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC), which is an amino acid, creatine and omega-3.

She added: "This is obviously a lot of supplements and I, as a general note about supplements, I don't take supplements on a daily basis.

"I take them on an as-needed basis, so I will be on these supplements for a period of time that I deem appropriate."

It comes just weeks after the actress opened up about her brain injury in a post on Instagram as she welcomed in the new year.

She wrote: "It's late on January 1, the first day of 2026, and I'm entering into this new year - the year of the horse - with some bad news about my concussion.

"The results came back from the scans, and I missed every area, and my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity.

"So, I do have brain damage from the TBI, and possibly other factors going on."

She added that she felt ready to embark on the "hard work" of "fixing" her medical problems and noted the positives of her health struggles meant she had enjoyed a "restful" end to the year.

She continued: "Now, my job is to get to the bottom of that with the doctors, and then embark on the hard work of fixing it.

"I don't look forward to it because I feel, like, hard work is all I do. That's OK, my cognitive decline since I smashed my face open has helped me to slow down and helped me to have a more restful finished 2025."

Noting she'd experienced "the most restful holiday" season she'd ever had, Evangeline added: "That's a good thing. [I'm] feeling extraordinarily grateful and blessed to be able to play one more day, one more year on this beautiful living planet. That is my concussion update. Thank you all for caring."
