Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are "genuinely rooting for each other" in all aspects of their lives

The 'Deadpool and Wolverine' co-stars and longtime pals - who first met in 2008 on the set of 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' - love to take cheeky digs at each other in public and play up their faux rivalry, but now they have revealed the best thing about their friendship

Appearing on Entertainment Tonight's 'Spilling the E-Tea', Hugh said: "[The best thing is] that I could tell you anything. I don't think there's [anything I couldn't tell you].

"I could literally tell you anything and also how I feel both of us - I'm stealing a little bit 'cause you described this perfectly - we are genuinely rooting for each other in every aspect of our lives."

Ryan agreed, pointing out "hallmark of a truly great friendship" is the way people want to see each other.

True to form, 'The Greatest Showman' actor couldn't let their heartfelt moment slide without teasing his friend.

Reflecting on another favourite part of their friendship, he quipped: "And your money, if I could say that."

Ryan replied "yes, of course", as Hugh teased: "You have a lot of money and if I'm ever short - which is often - [you spot me]."

Ryan recently compared their friendship to "having a partner or a marriage".

He told People magazine: "I think the secret sauce to a long-lasting Hollywood friendship is not too dissimilar to having a partner or a marriage.

"I am genuinely rooting for you, all the time. I want you to win. It's the same way I feel about [wife] Blake [Lively]. As I'm rooting for her, I know she's rooting for me, and it's why we're so connected."

Hugh added of the special bond: "Ever since I've known you, and I would say in particular in like the last five, 10 years, we've had more time where we go for our walks because you're an unbelievable listener.

"So you can tell me anything and I can tell you anything, and I don't feel like you're going to be judging or necessarily giving me the answer: 'Do this.' And I think that has been the key."
