Anya Taylor-Joy's "love story" with husband Malcolm McRae was sewn onto her wedding dress

The 28-year-old actress eloped with her fiance in 2023 to tie the knot in secret in New Orleans, but they went on to celebrate their love with a lavish ceremony in Venice, Italy for 150 guests and Anya has revealed her Dior wedding gown was embroidered with personal images telling the couple's story

She told WWD.com: "I wanted our love story to be embroidered on the dress. I didn't want to wear white, I don't know why, but there's so much embroidery.

"You've got a little speed boat, because my dad was a world power boat champion when he was younger. And we've got things for my husband's family, coordinates - the whole story."

Anya didn't reveal her secret ceremony in New Orleans until the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary earlier this year because she was so determined to keep it private.

She has also didn't release any pictures from her big day in Venice until April and she credits Dior's creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri with giving her plenty of help even though the dress might never be seen by the public.

She added: "Maria was so sweet about it, just took the time and was so caring, and she knew that the dress wouldn't be seen. I've intentionally not released any pictures of my wedding. So she did it just for love."

In the interview with WWD, Anya went on to confess she's been so busy recently she still hasn't unpacked after moving into her home in Los Angeles three years ago.

She explained: "My work life moves so fast that my private life tends to not necessarily catch up. I've owned my house for two, three years, and I still haven't fully unpacked. Everything is just basically liveable."

Anya previously opened up about her relationship with Malcolm in an interview with British Vogue magazine in 2022, saying: "I said to my partner the other day that he was my hobby.

"I see reading as something that I have to do. He loved it because he's the same. I've finally found someone who will happily sit in silence with me reading.

"We're basically 80 years old and seven at the same time and it works really well."
