Police say the woman fatally stabbed on an Auckland bus may have known her alleged killer

Police say the woman fatally stabbed on an Auckland bus may have known her alleged killer

Bernice Marychurch died at the scene on Church St on Wednesday and Kael Leona appeared in court charged with her murder on Friday.

Acting Detective Inspector Alisse Robertson says they've reviewed a range of CCTV in Panmure and Onehunga from last Wednesday - which show the pair together.

Police are now working to establish Marychurch's movements - and want to hear from anyone who saw her and a man matching the following description.

Wearing a baseball cap with Niue written on it, a zip up camo-coloured hooded sweatshirt, light coloured pants and white shoes and carrying a black backpack.

Police also want to speak with anyone who was at Woolworth Onehunga and several bus stops, at certain times on Wednesday.
