South Auckland dairies have been caught illegally selling single cigarettes

South Auckland dairies have been caught illegally selling single cigarettes

A Herald investigation discovered they're being sold for around three dollars in Manurewa and Papakura.

Posts on social media suggest the practice is relatively common.

The Herald's senior investigative reporter Michael Morrah used a hidden camera to test the claims.

He says the first shop he went into offered him the choice of a single cigarette for two dollars fifty or three dollars.
