Police have charged one person after a wave of threats forced an Auckland school into lockdown yesterday

They say 'emails of a concerning nature' were sent to two schools, media organisations, and Parliament.

Police Inspector Alison Brand says a man and a woman were taken into custody at a Mangere East address this morning.

She says a 20-year-old man is due in Manukau District Court tomorrow charged with unlawful firearm possession.

Other charges are likely to be laid.
