A state of emergency on storm-hit Banks Peninsula is set to be reviewed again

A state of emergency on storm-hit Banks Peninsula is set to be reviewed again

It's been 12 days since the emergency was first declared, due to record rainfall in Canterbury.

The Christchurch City Council's closely monitoring a 100-metre crack which opened up on Akaroa's Lighthouse Road.

Controller Brent Smith says the land is still saturated after rain on Friday, so there's potential for further slips.

He says they're receiving updates from monitoring equipment onsite, but need 48-hours of data before lifting the state of emergency.
