John Lydon's late wife Nora Forster once ripped Jennifer Lopez's dress

The former Sex Pistols frontman and his late spouse met the 56-year-old singer and US President Donald Trump, 79, at the VH1 Music Awards one year, and the politician and hitmaker were furious at John and Nora after she stepped onto Jennifer's dress and ripped the train.

John, 69, recalled to The Mirror: "I met [President Trump] once and I did not like him. I met him at the VH1 Music Awards. I had a show called Rotten Radio, and I was invited. My lovely wife came with me.

"Trump was going in with Jennifer Lopez, and Nora trod on her dress and tore the train, and they went nuts on us. It was a gorgeous fiasco. Trump is the Sex Pistols of politics."

And the God Save the Queen hitmaker is not keen on the royal family either.

John explained: "That lot are born in a bird cage. I have nothing against them as human beings, but I think I have overspent on them."

Despite the rocker not liking President Trump, John has previously championed the controversial figure, and supported him - going as far as to describe the politician as a "breath of fresh air".

Asked for his views on President Trump, John told ContactMusic.com: "It might be hard for socialist Britain to understand, but Donald Trump is like a breath of fresh air, because he's not a politician. That's it.

"I don't like the man, I don't care about the man, but he might create something interesting that, as of up to now, business as usual in politics has not done. Bring a wrecking ball, by all means, to it.

"A couple of years ago, I was asked what I thought of him, and I said I thought he was The Sex Pistols of politics.

"Then I tried to take it back, and then I thought, 'No, actually Johnny, that sounds f****** right.'"

Elsewhere in his interview with the music publication, the Pretty Vacant singer admitted he is still grieving for Nora - who died in April 2023 at the age of 80, five years after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

Recalling her final days with his beloved wife, John said: "She died so painfully. Gasping.

"They call it the death whistle."
