It's going to be a wet start to the weekend for much of the North Island

An Orange Heavy Rain Warning is in place for the Bay of Plenty, east of Opotiki, and Gisborne, north of Tolaga Bay for 14 hours from 8pm.
Yellow Heavy Rain Watches are also in place from this afternoon in a number of North Island areas.
MetService Meteorologist Mmathapelo Makgabutlane says it cause disruption.
She says possible impacts include surface flooding, slips, rapidly rising rivers and hazardous driving conditions.
A front moving up the South Island will bring a burst of heavy rain to western areas today as well.
