The Climate Change Minister says the Government's working with the farming industry, not against it, on new methane targets

The Climate Change Minister says the Government's working with the farming industry, not against it, on new methane targets

The government's setting science-based biogenic methane targets for 2050.

The range will be 14 to 24 percent below 2017 levels.

There will be a legislated review of the target in 2040.

Simon Watts says they have full resolution with the farming sector, and have been able to give farmers certainty.

Mr Watts says this is good for both the economy and the climate, while sending a clear signal that the Government has their backs.
