A group of high-profile New Zealanders, including NBA star Steven Adams and former All Blacks lock Ali Williams, have proposed a new 12,500-seat stadium at Auckland's Western Springs

A group of high-profile New Zealanders, including NBA star Steven Adams and former All Blacks lock Ali Williams, have proposed a new 12,500-seat stadium at Auckland's Western Springs

The venue is home to Ponsonby Rugby Club and it's believed the club would have to find a new home if plans were to proceed.

But - Ponsonby Rugby have put their own proposal for the site as has music promoter Campbell Smith's company.

The presentation from the consortium, which also includes rich lister Anna Mowbray and Auckland FC owner Bill Foley, presented their plans for the new stadium in central Auckland to a closed session of councillors last week.

Councillor Maurice Williamson was left with a few questions ...

The other two proposals are yet to present - a decision is likely in May.
