Mayor Wayne Brown says he's not convinced rules on earthquake-prone buildings should apply to Auckland, but he welcomes the Government bringing forward a review

Mayor Wayne Brown says he's not convinced rules on earthquake-prone buildings should apply to Auckland, but he welcomes the Government bringing forward a review

It's also extended the deadline to get buildings up to standard by four years.

Brown says he's been calling for a review of the rules because they make no sense for Auckland, whose biggest risks are volcanoes and tsunamis.

He says the extension will also let people properly assess the needs of each property.
