Belief ending Auckland's fuel tax is the right decision

Belief ending Auckland's fuel tax is the right decision

Motorists will be better off by 11.5 cents per litre when the scheme ends at midnight tonight.

Transport Minister Simeon Brown says the tax wasn't building the infrastructure which was needed.

He says most Aucklanders thought filling up would build Mill Road, but instead they were getting speed bumps.

Mr Brown says the remaining funding will go to priority projects such as the Eastern bus way, more trains, and local roads.
