An aid organisation's concerned climate finance funding's on the decline -- as official data shows a year-on-year drop in aid spending

An aid organisation's concerned climate finance funding's on the decline -- as official data shows a year-on-year drop in aid spending

Forecast aid spending is 1.1 billion dollars for the current financial year, compared to 1.2 billion the year before - but still higher than every other year over the past decade.

MFAT says the reduction's partly due to climate finance funding ending next year.

The Government's yet to decide about future funding -- and Oxfam Aotearoa's Nick Henry more support's urgently needed.

He says it's already having an impact because the programmes can't be planned ahead without long term certainty.
