New Stats NZ data shows 123-thousand migrant departures in January -- provisionally the highest on record for an annual period

Annual net migration was at around 32-thousand-500, with arrivals down 31 percent, and departures up 18 percent over the past 12 months.

Net migration for New Zealand citizens was at around minus-44-thousand, compared to almost 78-thousand for non-New Zealand citizens.

Around 58 percent of New Zealand citizen migrant departures in the June 2024 year, were to Australia.
