The Wellington Phoenix women's coach admits she has a "very light" squad right now, after two of her midfielders were ruled out for the season

ACL injuries to New Zealander Alyssa Whinham and Dutchwoman Tessel Middag have coach Bev Priestman reaching for the phone to see how they can be replaced.

That may be trickier for the import, though Priestman's keen to see if the club can fill Middag's spot or not, and when.

Meanwhile this weekend's home game against the Melbourne Victory looms large.

Priestman says she's still processing the sudden losses.
