Worrying figures show more Kiwis suffering respiratory illness than previously thought

A new report shows around a million New Zealanders are affected by respiratory disease each year.

Report author Dr Lucy Telfar-Barnard says the grim numbers shouldn't be ignored, and more needs to be done to protect people from the deadly illnesses.

She says our population heath would greatly improve if the issue was taken seriously.
