Up to 80 international tourists need to be rescued each year while in New Zealand

Up to 80 international tourists need to be rescued each year while in New Zealand

Land Search and Rescue were involved in 495 operations in the past year, helping up to 600 locals and visitors who needed emergency services.

Chief executive Carl McOnie says around 14 percent of the rescues were for international tourists.

He says these range from trampers, day walkers or climbers needing help.
