The North and South Islands could stark differences in weather this weekend

The North and South Islands could stark differences in weather this weekend

MetService has issued an orange rain warning for all three districts on the West Coast - up to 400 millimetres of rain could fall in Westland.

Meanwhile, Meteorologist Karl Loots says the eastern North Island is expected to be warm and dry.

He says areas like Napier and Hastings in the Hawke's Bay could reach around 30 degrees.

As temperatures increase, Fire and Emergency warn they've already seen double the amount of firework related call outs compared to this time last year.
