A 194-run opening stand has propelled Northern Districts to an eight-run win over Otago in their T20 Super Smash cricket match at Dunedin

A 194-run opening stand has propelled Northern Districts to an eight-run win over Otago in their T20 Super Smash cricket match at Dunedin

Katene Clarke and Joe Carter's effort is the second-highest partnership in the competition's history behind the 201 between Peter Ingram and Jamie How for Central Districts against Wellington at New Plymouth's Pukekura Park in 2012.

Clarke made his maiden ton in the format with 106 off 65 balls - Carter struck 83 off 49 in their 212 for two.

The Volts have 18 points after seven matches, the Stags have 16 after six and the Brave have 14 after five.
