Auckland Pride Parade organisers says they're unfazed by a disruption led by followers of Destiny Church

Auckland Pride Parade organisers says they're unfazed by a disruption led by followers of Destiny Church

Yesterday, members of the church's Man Up and Legacy groups broke through police barricades at the parade on Ponsonby Road and held up festivities with a haka.

Earlier they also stormed a children's drag event at an west Auckland library - where about 30 people had to be barricaded inside.

Auckland Rainbow Parade Event Manager Shaughan Woodcock feels the rain had more of an impact than the demonstrators.

He says, if anything it gives him more drive to champion for the rights of LGBTQ individuals.
