    Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has explained benching Erling Haaland for their 2-nil Champions League football loss to Bayer Leverkusen


    The club's top goalscorer was one of ten changes to the XI from Sunday's Premier League defeat to Newcastle.

    Guardiola wanted Haaland to have a rest during the packed calendar...after helping Norway qualify for the World Cup.



    Marseille and Chelsea claimed home wins against Newcastle and Barcelona respectively.
