Kelly Clarkson has shared an update on how her children are coping following the death of their father

Kelly's former husband Brandon Blackstock died in August after a secret battle with cancer and Kelly admitted that their kids, River, 11 and Remy, nine, have gone through "a lot" in recent times.

When asked by a fan during a YouTube Q&A on the official Kelly Clarkson Show channel to share one thing she does every day that brings her joy, Kelly replied: "Snuggle. My kids, they're nine and 11. Kind of that special little fun stage where they can wipe their own behinds, but they're still small enough to, like, love cuddling and love snuggles.

"There's been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit.

"It's my two dogs, my two kids and me. It's a lot. It's been really special, though, because... the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that's probably my favourite time of day."

Blackstock, 48, was diagnosed with melanoma three years before his death but kept his health battle secret from the public.

His family announced his passing in August, saying: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."

Along with Remy and River, Brandon had two children, Savannah and Seth, from a previous marriage and was also a grandfather to Savannah's son Lake, who she welcomed in 2022.

Brandon and Kelly split in 2020 after seven years of marriage.
