Stephen Graham has signed a first-look deal with Disney+

The Adolescence star - who co-created the hit Netflix show with Jack Thorne - and his wife Hannah Walters' Matriarch Productions has inked a two-year deal with the streaming platform, having already collaborated together on boxing drama A Thousand Blows.

According to the streamer, the new deal will "span original scripted and unscripted series, bringing compelling British stories to audiences around the world".

Angela Jain - Head of Content for Disney+ EMEA - said in a statement: "Stephen and Hannah have proven they know how to tell bold, impactful stories and our vision also aligns with them around providing a platform for underrepresented voices in the UK. "Distinctive, local stories that entertain and resonate with audiences are what Disney+ are committed to championing, making Matriarch the perfect partners as we look to evolve our production slate in the UK.

"This is a dream, and we're thrilled to continue working with them."

In a joint statement, Stephen and Hannah - who have been married since 2008 - promised to continue working on "inspiring" and "entertaining" stories.

They added: "We are beyond thrilled to be working with Disney+ and through this creative partnership will strive to produce inspiring, entertaining and thought-provoking storytelling."

Stephen is on a career high after Adolescence - which starred Owen Cooper as teenage murder suspect Jamie Miller alongside the co-creator as his dad Eddie - won four prizes at the Golden Globes over the weekend.

The show as a whole was named Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Motion Picture, while Stephen won Best Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television, and co-star Erin Doherty - who played Briony Ariston - was recognised as Best Supporting Female Actor.

Owen captured the Best Supporting Male Actor accolade, making him the youngest ever winner in the supporting TV categories.

In the Winners' Room, Stephen was asked about the possibility of a second season, and told reporters: "I cannot answer that question because it's somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack's mind, and we'll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned."
