Police are still hunting for the man believed to be behind the South Auckland shooting last night

Police are still hunting for the man believed to be behind the South Auckland shooting last night

A section of Papatoetoe's Great South Road was on lockdown from 6.30pm, after armed Police swarmed the area due to reports of a man firing shots at Allenby Park Hotel.

It's believed the man left on foot before Police arrived.

Herald reporter Rachel Maher , who's on the scene this morning, says it's eerily calm.

She says locals are heading to work and high school kids are walking to school as if nothing happened.
