Jennifer Garner spent weeks constantly weeping uncontrollably as she prepared for her daughter Violet to graduate from high school

The 'Elektra' actress, 52, who has the 18-year-old girl with her actor ex-husband Ben Affleck, 51, was seen in a series of photos of the teen's graduation ceremony crying in an auditorium, and has now admitted she spent weeks bursting into tears at the prospect of the event

She told Hoda Kotb and Sheinelle Jones on 'Today with Hoda and Jenna': "I was a wreck the whole month leading up to it.

"Every awards ceremony, every final, everything, I just cried and cried at everything,"

"Then, the day of (graduation) was so happy that there was nothing to be other than just so proud and happy."

Jennifer appeared on the show alongside her mother Patricia 'Pat' Ann Garner, who said she was also an emotional wreck when her three daughters left home.

She added: "Oh, graduation was fine, but when they went to college, that's another thing, and when Jennifer went, I just howled."

Pat added she was hit by the feeling Jennifer would "never come home again"

Jennifer and Ben also co-parent children Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, and threw Violet a graduation party in Los Angeles in May.

Jennifer shared a series of images on social media showing herself weeping at Violet's graduation along with a message about how she was struggling not to be overwhelmed at the event.

She said on Instagram she didn't know how she's "gonna make it" after seeing Violet mark the milestone.

Jennifer added: "Tell me you have a graduate without telling me you have a graduate. (Mortarboard emoji) bless our hearts (amazed face, red heart and crying with laughter emojis.)"

Jennifer's first two photos of the set at Violet's graduation showed her tearfully clapping, and she asked fans what she was "gonna do" and how she would "make it" - before adding an image of herself in oversized '2024' sunglasses.

Her post prompted a flood of posts in the comments section from her famous friends and fans.

Actress Reese Witherspoon, 48, told her: "Oh honey... I know. (Crying face and red heart emojis.)

"You have done a great job , mama! I will be here for support and lots of hugs."

'Cruel Intentions' actress Reese sent her daughter Ava, 24, to college in 2019 and son Deacon, 20, three years later.

Gwyneth Paltrow, 51, whose 20-year-old daughter Apple attends a New York City-based university, commented: "I'm sooooo with you (bandaged heart emoji.)"
