Meanwhile Auckland Council has given its Long Term Plan the final sign off

The 10-year plan has seven focus areas - including transport, water, the environment and economic development.

From Monday, rates will rise by 6.8-percent and its water business, Watercare, is increasing water bills by 7.2-percent.

The 11 and a half cents per litre regional fuel and diesel tax will go.
